The local business is getting us followers

We have a market campaign the rest of this year to get 5000 followers for our music page to see what kind of response we get from people and which songs are our best ones.

I figure if we have 5000 people hearing our songs we will have a decent idea as to which ones are keepers and which ones should be put to rest.

So far our one song is leading the pack and it looks like it will be our number one song so far. Penned “We Got The Beat” it is an upbeat song heating up our music page with all the plays it is getting, thanks to the local business for doing their marketing thing. We paid them a few hundred bucks to get us 5000 real followers over the next few months and they are doing just that. My HVAC tech bandmate and I only had 48 followers just a couple days ago, now it is heating up already with about 130 followers just two days later. This HVAC specialist told us about the local contractor who does this marketing and said that the company is legit and that they really get real people to follow you. I don’t care about getting more and more followers like some bands, I just want enough to know which song is good when we put it online. Anyway, my air conditioner is about to get some work as I need climate control soon in this flat because it is really heating up quickly this morning. Have a good one today!

Nine in the morning thinking about my heating rep dad

Today is the 14th of June and in four days yet another Father’s Day will slip by with no phone call to my dad, no card sent, nothing anymore because my dad was plucked out of my life two years ago and I have no one to tell how much I loved being their son.

Just a grave to visit and weep above, as my dad is gone and my heart still feels an emptiness there where he once was.

It is going to be tough getting over him because I was overseas when he died doing HVAC repairs for the new contractor and I never got to say goodbye to him and hug him one last time. He was a heating rep for a local business and put all of his time and energy into fixing HVAC systems and trying to make the world a better place the way he knew how. There will be no more parties at his house, no more soccer matches to watch, no more fishing trips together. His HVAC company has been dissolved and his rental houses all sold, and now there is just a memory left of what was once a thriving heating and cooling corp on Central Avenue in the city. There will be no more Happy Birthday cards arriving from him for me in the mail, no cheesy Christmas gifts like panty hose or denture toothpaste for me, and no more laughter echoing in the rooms of his once lively home. My heart is cooling down a bit with the loss of my HVAC rep dad, and I hope yours is around and I hope you tell him how much he means to you because you will regret not doing it.

An evening of chill with air conditioning

I’m getting a bit ahead on my articles for the week because I am not playing music or sports today and have a free day basically.

It is 6pm and I am sure there will be people on the beach playing ball, but the sun doesn’t go down till close to 10pm nowadays, so I still have quite a bit of time to get out in the sun.

It is pretty hot out now and I like to stay out of the intense sun most of the day and save my skin from more wrinkles. Cold air conditioning feels so nice when it is so hot out like it is today, but summer will be gone in a blink so I need to appreciate it even when it is heating up to near 100F. I will bring my little blue chair to the beach and watch a few games while I chill in the sand with an ice cold beer possibly. I may see my cooling rep out there and maybe we can have a chat while cooling down with a cold brew. It will be an early night for me as I plan on getting home by about 9pm latest, maybe even earlier, so that I can get to bed at a decent hour. I will turn on my mini split a/c unit in my bedroom about an hour before I go to bed so it is cooling down the room for me before I hit the hay. I sleep really well in a colder bedroom and love my little a/c system.

Sensitive teeth and ductwork cleaning

I bleached my teeth this morning for an hour with those whitening strips and now my teeth feel naked.

It feels like I had sweaters on my teeth and now they have been removed on a cold winter day.

It isn’t the nicest feeling in the world I can tell you, but I want to get some of the stains off so my smile doesn’t scare away dogs. I bought some Sensodyne toothpaste at the store and am going to use it each day while doing this bleaching thing to see if it stops the sensitivity. My HVAC rep told me that it will so I am heeding her advice from yesterday when we were working on a heating system for a client. I have to wear these strips for two weeks and I know my teeth would drive me crazy if I didn’t use the toothpaste for this kind of pain. I couldn’t work on air conditioning systems all day if my teeth were like this, let alone cleaning ductwork in an uncomfortably hot attic. So I think I will be better in a couple of days once this toothpaste does its job and stops the sensitive feeling I have right now. And speaking of duct cleaning, my ductwork is going to need a big overhaul soon because the ducts are leaking in some spots and wasting the air that should be coming out of my vents. I need to get some of that tape from the store but I think I will do it later this week when my teeth are better.

Sunroom air conditioning was just the thing

I sort of get a bit bummed out toward the end of May.

  • That’s because, where I live, the Summer heat starts coming in about then.

And the level of that sort of heat and humidity is intense to say the least. But that’s really part of it when you choose to live this far south. I get the fact that some people just can’t deal with the heat. For sure, I understand that as I grew up more than a thousand miles due north from here. There was a gas furnace for heating in the Winter as a heat pump wouldn’t have cut it. So I get the fact that I have some old friends who just stayed put and are still dealing with Winter. For me, I just couldn’t take any more snow and ice. Plus, being all cooped up inside the residential HVAC to survive the cold wasn’t much fun either. And really, that’s what I get bummed about during the Summer. I pretty much have to stay inside the air conditioning from like 11 in the morning to around 6 or 7 in the evening. It’s just too dang hot outside to do much otherwise. While it’s not as bad as being stuck inside with a gas furnace running for the better part of six months, I still miss being out side whenever I want. But this Summer, I have a helped my situation a bit by calling the HVAC company. They installed a ductless heat pump in our sunroom. So at least I can feel like I’m sort of outside with the air conditioning now in the sunroom. That sure does help as I wait for mid to late September to come along so I can stay outside all day again.

No reason to have HVAC problems

Unless you’re trying to get one more Summer season from an very old heat pump, the air conditioning shouldn’t be a problem.

Of course, that’s not the way it was when I was much younger. At that time, I didn’t have my own HVAC equipment and had to deal with commercial HVAC in apartments. Suffice it to say that I never, ever saw an certified and licensed HVAC professional come perform any sort of HVAC maintenance on the heat pump. And I don’t imagine that’s anything rare. But when I became a homeowner, I chose to be really conscious of my heating and cooling equipment. For me, becoming a homeowner was sort of a big step into adulting in a big way. There is something about paying a mortgage that will do that to a person. For a lot of people, parenthood is the thing that snaps them into adult mode. But for me, it was putting my entire life savings into a house. Well, it was my new wife’s life savings as well. I could never have gotten into homeownership alone. We got the previous owner to negotiate the price down since we were willing to accept the existing HVAC equipment. After some due diligence and proof of HVAC maintenance, we were good with taking over the 11 year old heat pump. And it has served us quite well. We started with the HVAC service plan right away once we closed on the house. And in the ensuing 8 years, we’ve never missed an HVAC maintenance appointment. So why in the world am I seeing so many HVAC vans in my neighborhood this Summer. My guess is not enough people were getting the air conditioning tune up in the Spring.

Smart HVAC

Lost my air conditioning bet

Here’s a public service announcement.

When the HVAC technician tells you that the heat pump probably won’t make it through the Summer, listen to him.

I did not and it wasn’t worth the effort and stress. So take it from me, the HVAC professionals are the ones to listen to. The ego voice in your head that’s telling you the 26 year old heat pump has one more Summer in it, not so much. I wish I had listened to the HVAC technician. But unlike most adults, I didn’t have my act together when it came to saving up the money to replace the residential HVAC in my home. So that meant, in my head, I had no other choice but to roll the dice on getting the HVAC equipment through one more Summer. That’s really all we really needed. The Winter isn’t much around here and we could have made do with a space heater. Or at least that’s what the cocky dork in my head was telling me. So I pulled the family together and told them that we really had to be all over thermostat discipline so we could get the heat pump over the finish line. Of course, that went in one ear and out the other. Still, I did my best by sealing up the house as tight as possible and figuring out how to program the digital thermostat. Well, I stressed over the old heat pump all Summer before it finally bit the dust in mid August. I did end up saving about half of I needed so it wasn’t a total loss. But I should have just dipped into some other savings and done what the HVAC professional suggested that I do.

HVAC helps insure the mortgage

It took a really long time but my wife and I finally found the perfect scenario in order to own our home. We are in our forties and both work as creative people. But after ditching the zone controlled HVAC of the office for our own efforts, our income took a beating. Yet, it was more important to have the opportunity to live a passion instead of showing up for a job inside commercial HVAC. We made this choice more than a decade ago. And while we love what we’re doing, we’ve had to make do with less money. So that meant renting an apartment until we found the right situation to buy. Finally getting out of an apartment is so nice. No longer are we tied to ancient HVAC equipment that isn’t adequate when it comes to air conditioning in the Summer. And really, that’s all we want from the heat pump around this region. The Winter just isn’t a worry so much. But getting into our house meant that we had to be able to rent out part of the home in order to generate enough income to insure that we had the mortgage covered every month. While more modest than it once was, our income can come in big piles or not at all for a month or so. Being able to install a ductless heat pump in a garage apartment has allowed us to have a renter. She’s a great lady and we coexist here nicely. She loves the ductless heat pump up in the garage apartment. Not only does it produce awesome air conditioning, it’s super efficient which also saves her money.

Proper heater maintenance boosts performance

Buying or building a new home involves many different aspects, some of which require a professional eye or touch that most homeowners lack.

These aspects are like the cogs on a wheel, as they work harmoniously to ensure everything inside the house is functional.

Floors, walls, and furnishings are visible and therefore hard to miss, but what about those areas we can’t see? Most people pay little attention to the electrical or plumbing systems as long as the lights are on, appliances work, and there’s running water. One key aspect you should never overlook when buying or building a home is the heating equipment. Components such as the boiler are often tucked out of sight and out of mind. As an HVAC specialist, one of the most common requests I get is to share energy-saving tips, especially with an electric heating system. I always say the best way to ensure your electric HVAC is efficient is to keep up with routine heater maintenance. A qualified HVAC serviceman has the training to spot issues that can increase power consumption, such as a defective electric heat pump. In such a case, the heating technician can schedule an immediate heat pump installation to resolve the problem. A wireless thermostat is a clever addition that saves you numerous trips to adjust the temperature while lowering your power bill. I also recommend switching to a HEPA filter. Besides keeping your unit free from debris and dust, it improves the air quality and boosts overall performance. Remember that not all products are equal when looking at HVAC products for sale. Different manufacturers produce different quality products, so you need to look beyond the price tag to ensure you get durable HVAC products.

Your heating equipment could be responsible for your health issues

My husband is overly sensitive to airborne allergens, and my kids inherited the same sensitivity.

Some seasons are particularly tough, especially when flowers are blooming and pollen is in the air.

We’ve had the same family doctor for years, and he was the first to raise concern about the recent infections. The allergy season had ended, but my kids still had running noses and congested chests. I thought they were regular allergies, but the symptoms seemed to worsen by the day. I took everyone to the doctor’s, and after running some tests, he informed me the congestion was likely caused by mold. The doctor asked how regularly I have heater maintenance because a faulty filter could be doing more harm than good. I remember the heating technician coming by a few months ago for heat pump installation, but I wasn’t sure if he checked the boiler and other components. The doctor insisted I call my HVAC specialist and request a filter change. I explained my situation to the HVAC serviceman, and he recommended a HEPA filter, which is more effective. He also suggested switching from an all-water system to an electric heating system. An electric HVAC relies on an electric heat pump, so there’s no need for circulating water. Getting rid of the water components could help control the mold, so I immediately started looking at HVAC products for sale to identify the best electric unit for my home. I was worried about power consumption, so I researched some energy-saving tips and discovered a wireless thermostat not only makes work easier but also helps save energy costs. The specialist helped upgrade my heating system and connected the thermostat to my smartphone. I’m happy that the air quality is better at home, and I have less of a mess to deal with and fewer hospital visits.
